President's Message

Greetings and welcome to the website of the Tau Xi Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.

We are delighted that you have chosen to explore our website to learn more about our chapter and the work we continue to do in the great name of ZETA!

The Tau Xi Zeta chapter, known as “The Finer Women of Forest Park,” was chartered on April 4, 2004, by 20 women who recognized the need for the presence of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, in service to the residents of the West Side of Chicago, Illinois, and its surrounding western suburbs.

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, was founded upon the principles of Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood with the intention of charting a course of action toward positive change for the future, raising the consciousness of the African-American community, and encouraging the highest standards of scholastic achievement.

For over one hundred years, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, has paid it forward by organizing impactful, community-based activities focused on the improvement of economic welfare, access to quality educational resources, and the overall physical and mental health of residents in neighborhoods across the globe.

Keeping in step with our global initiatives, the Tau Xi Zeta chapter has partnered with local schools, churches, businesses, and other organizations to implement programs and projects which allow us to be of service to our communities. We have hosted and participated in various service projects, including programming related to Breast Cancer Awareness, Social Action/National Voter Registration, Military Appreciation, and the March of Dimes. Some of our initiatives focus on the following:

  • Adopt-A-School – Programming focused on providing initiatives that will positively impact student achievement and attendance, and provide schools with educational resources, support, and structure.
  • Autism Awareness – Programming focused on championing autism awareness and increasing education, advocacy, and funding.
  • Domestic Violence – Our program’s mission is rooted in building healthy relationships and ending intimate partner violence, influencing policy, and promoting partnerships dedicated to the protection of women and children.
  • Elder Care – Programming focused on educating and increasing awareness of appropriate resources, benefits, and preventative health for our seniors and their caregivers.
  • Mental Health – Programming focused on destigmatizing mental illness, providing awareness, and educating our communities to increase overall well-being.
  • Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Other People Excel) – An interactive national service program of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, designed to enhance, cultivate, and empower participants to develop health-promoting lifestyle choices across the lifespan. Specific to the population groups: Women, Youth, Seniors, Men, and International Women of Color.

Please feel free to visit our site and follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to learn about upcoming events and service projects.

Sincerely,

Barbara Kees
